The Energy Savings Program BC helps make energy-efficient home upgrades more affordable for eligible households across British Columbia.

Rebates are based on household income and can significantly reduce the cost of upgrades like heat pumps, insulation, and windows

What Is the Energy Savings Program BC?

The Energy Savings Program BC is part of CleanBC’s initiative to improve home energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.

Eligible homeowners and tenants can receive enhanced rebates to upgrade their homes, improve comfort, and lower long-term utility bills.

Program Requirements

To qualify for the Energy Savings Program BC, you must meet the following general requirements:

  • Your home must be a year-round primary residence
  • The home must be at least 12 months old
  • A household member must have a residential electricity account with BC Hydro, FortisBC, or a municipal utility
  • Utility accounts in the name of a landlord or strata corporation are not eligible
  • If you rent your home, you must provide landlord consent

Income Requirements

Your eligibility and rebate level depend on:

  • Number of people in your household
  • Combined pre-tax household income (excluding dependents)
  • Assessed value of your property

How the Energy Savings Program Works

The process is designed to be simple and structured:

  1. Review eligibility requirements
  2. Pre-register and receive your eligibility code
  3. Get quotes from registered contractors
  4. Complete your home upgrade
  5. Your contractor applies the rebate and you pay the remaining balance
